Congratulations to Rachel & Joe! Their wedding was just perfect, and even the weather pleasantly surprised us this time!
Rachel & Joe's Colorful Day in Sicklinghall
Sicklinghall, a quaint village in North Yorkshire near Wetherby, provided an incredible backdrop for Rachel and Joe’s special day. This was my first time visiting, and I have to say it’s one of the most picturesque villages I’ve ever seen. The charming streets, historical architecture, and lush greenery made it an ideal setting for a village hall wedding.
Rachel and Joe, a lovely couple with two adorable kids, created a warm and inviting atmosphere for their guests. Some of their family members even tried speaking to me in Polish, which made me feel incredibly welcomed and added a personal touch to the day. The wedding took place on June 8th, 2024, a date now etched in beautiful memories.
Getting Ready: Fun and Relaxation at the Scott's Arms Pub
The day began at the Scott’s Arms Pub, just opposite the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Joe and his groomsmen got ready in the pub’s garden, sharing laughs and beers. It was a fun and relaxed start, setting the tone for the day. Rachel prepared in one of the pub’s well-lit rooms, a space filled with light and anticipation. Her calm yet excited demeanor was infectious.
Heartfelt Ceremony at the Church of the Immaculate Conception
The ceremony at the Church of the Immaculate Conception was heartfelt, with Joe’s brothers and a close friend delivering readings that added depth and emotion. After the vows, we moved to the Sicklinghall Village Hall for the reception, a mere walking distance from both the church and the pub. This proximity allowed for a unique photo opportunity as guests walked together through the charming village streets, creating a wonderful sense of community and celebration.
A Cozy and Creative Reception at Sicklinghall Village Hall
Rachel, ever the creative bride, personally crafted many of the wedding decorations. The hall was adorned with pastels and sage green table runners, creating a serene and elegant atmosphere. Instead of a formal three-course meal, a wood-fired pizza van from Kneed n Feed served delicious pizzas, adding a casual and fun element to the day. The Marlins, a live band, kept the energy high with their music, ensuring everyone was on their feet dancing and having a great time.
Vibrant and Playful Photos with Colorful Smoke Bombs
One of the highlights of the day was using colorful smoke bombs during the photo sessions. Rachel and Joe’s friends and family had a blast with them, creating vibrant and playful photos that perfectly captured the spirit of their wedding day. We also took some time to wander into the nearby fields for some stunning sunset shots. Despite the long grass and brushwood, Joe was a trooper, giving Rachel a piggyback ride, which made for some truly memorable and candid wedding photos.
A Day to Remember: Rachel and Joe's Timeless Elegance
Rachel and Joe had booked our ‘Timeless Elegance’ package, which included full-day coverage and prints. Their attention to detail and the relaxed, fun vibe they wanted for their village hall wedding were beautifully captured throughout the day. From the intimate family shots, despite the challenge of photographing their two young children, to the candid moments of guests enjoying themselves, every moment was a testament to their love and the joy they bring to those around them.
